Not my family!
How did this happen?
Drug and alcohol use cuts across educational, religious, ethnic and career boundaries. No family is immune to the lure of this present age where sex, alcohol and drugs are the norm. Young people we have encountered have experimented with prescription pain killers, street drugs, vaping and huffing. These young people generally come from good families. Several come from broken homes, where the parents are separated or divorced. The kids are caught in the middle of the family dispute over custody and possessions. Some are latchkey kids - the kids arrive home after school to an empty home because both parents or guardians are working. The kids become bored and want to escape from the strain of everyday life. Because of peer pressure and the availability of drugs and illicit substances, they begin to experiment!
Exceleration Foundation provides mentoring to discourage young people from falling into the trap of drug use. Counselors are available to assist in making right life choices and problem management.
The Foundation also partners with proven residential treatment centers, if the addiction has progressed and a complete environment change is needed.

Be A Parent
Your son or daughter needs a parent. You are not their "best friend". They need boundaries and love.
|
Morality
Be active in discussions concerning morality. Don't expect the school or church to instill those values. Be an example.
|
Give them love
Your son or daughter needs to know that you love them and that you are proud of their accomplishments. Be involved in their life.
